What flies to use? i am going for trout and bass in northern New Jersey
I just started? WHen do i reel a fish in and when do i strip it? ANything you are willing to tell me
Try out a clouser’s minnow for trout and bass. Other good flies that will work for both are basically any streamer or nymph and many dry flies. Terrestrials work great such as a grasshopper or ant. Also Deer hair poppers work great for bass. Just stick with stripping the fish in, it is easier to control the fish and let out a particular amount of line when necessary.

there is quite a bit about retrievs so ill answer a little and maybe someone else will fill in any gaps
if you are fishing on a river cast upstream and let it float down below you then recast upstream..on a lake if it is a dry fly let it float and maybe just give a little jerk so that it looks like a dying bug if it is a streamer in a lake strip it in and just vary how you strip the fish will like something
thats some ways
