What are the best (top 5, top 3) fly fishing reels for under 0?
I don’t know much about fly fishing, but my friend has been fly fishing for years, it’s his favorite thing to do and I want to get him something for Christmas.
I’ve seen some for a few hundred, but since I don’t have time to research (need to buy it within the next 24 hours), was wondering what your thoughts on a few best of the best for under 0… Even 0 is great!
Thanks!

Having used or owned all of these reels, I’d probably say the CLA, but it (somewhat) depends on where, and what for, your friend is fishing. Most of these reels could probably be found online on cabelas or the flyshop.com or at your local fly shop, but the loop reel can only be found on the site I gave above.
BTW, you need to know what rod weight your friend uses to best match the reel to the rod.

That is really a matter of preference but I prefer the Pflueger automatic model 1195.

Fot a more traditional fly reel you can’t beat the Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock. For years the Battenkill reel was the number one selling reel in the world: http://www.orvis.com/store/product_directory_showcase3.aspx?dir_id=758&group_id=768&cat_id=7627&subcat_id=7643
