I have what I believe to be a older fly fishing reel.

l’m sorry but the only "fjord" fishing tackle l know of is the "fjord" spoon made originally by acme tackle. along with the little cleo. not bought one in a while. may be made by someone else by now.

Has anyone used Hardy Fishing gear for fly fishing?

just wondering

Have i used them? yes, do i like them well that depends. As far as im aware only two of the very top end fly rods are actually made in the UK still, the rest are made in China or Taiwan where the quality surely can’t be the same, after all you have to have pride in your work when making a fishing rod. Its likely its going to stay with the angler the whole of their life and needs to last.

I think that the older gear Hardy made is actually BETTER than the new stuff, it was all made in Alnwick England, unlike only two of the whole range that still are today.

Don’t get me wrong the gear is good, but the craftsmanship is lacking and that’s what stops me buying their newer stuff, also the warranty is expensive to send back broken sections and the waiting time to get the new section can be up to 3 weeks, i prefer Orvis, Sage,Loomis and even some of the newer Norwegian and Swedish brands such as GuideLine and Loop.

Tips for trout fishing in central PA??

Files under fly fishing tip | 4 Comments

I am going to be in central PA towards the end of August and would love to hook into a trout while I’m there. I will not be fly fishing to accomplish because that’s something I’ve never done. What would be some lures or baits that would give me a good chance at hooking one? Any other tips would be great as well. I plan on using a micro reel and rod combo but if something else would work better please give feedback. Thanks.

1. Bait fishing: 4lb line, 2-4lb leader, split shot, bobber, 18 treble hook….salmon eggs, or earth worm or even dough baits.

2. in-line spinners like panther martins , roster tails and mepps. 4lb line.
