how come my fly rod don't have drag knob?
its a Pflueger Purist 1094 fly reel. If that helps
A lot of fly reels do not have an adjustable drag. You can apply drag to the reel to slow a running fish by "palming" the reel. This means using the palm of your retrieving hand against the outside rim of the reel to apply pressure to it. You should only need to do it if you are catching really large fish like salmon, steelhead, or saltwater fish. It's rare that you have to palm a reel if you're fishing for regular trout.
If you do have to palm the reel, wet your hand first. It helps the reel continue to spin as you palm it. I've had days salmon fishing when I came home with the palm of my left hand nothing but a bruise from the reel handle slapping me.
