TREK 2100 Vintage Carbon value?
There is a road bike listed locally that looks as though it is good condition. I am new to cycling and would like to know a more experienced persons opinion of what this bike is worth. The asking price is $450, the description that was givin is listed below. The bike was manufactured in 1991.
This bike is equipped with a full Shimano 105 groupo, running a down tube 7-speed system with 53-39 up front and 13-23 in the rear. The bike is in amazing condition and still accelerates and handles perfectly.
Within the last 6 months I have had the bike pro tuned and all of the cables replaced. Shifting, Steering, Braking, all excellent.

The Trek 2100 you are looking at is a approximately a 1998 model. It sold originally for $1000 suggested retail. It was a pretty good bike in its day, this was out before Lance won his first TDF, so it is an oldie. All my senses tell me that this is way too much for this bike..... BUT I am not out there looking at the price of bikes right now. I know I sold my 2004 Cannondale with 9 speed modern shifters, on pristine shape for just slighlty more than what they are asking.
I can tell you that I would make an offer of $75 to $100 less IF the bike is pristine. If it has issues, I would move on.
