Can I use a seven weight fly reel with an eight weight rod and line?
I am configuring a new fly rod setup for sockeye salmon (roughly 8-10 lbs), and am wondering if I can put eight weight fly line on my Loomis venture seven reel, and then put that on an eight weight rod, or if it will likely break on me. the river I fish in isn't a super swift current, but it is also not slow. So, do you think My reel will be ok, or should I go pick up an 8-9 fly reel?
