Can I survive a current in a ocean and river?
I had a nightmare that I fell in the middle of the river and a current was taking me under and past the river where I couldnt move to the edge! I think one time I went fishing in the city river of Pittsburgh, i almost fell in and even when I was near shore and had my feet in the river, hanging out, something was pulling me away and it was hard to get out!! It was like quick sand so luckily my fishing partner pulled me out!!!
However, it will be much worse if it was a ocean!!! Now lets say if I am in the middle of the ocean and the lifeguard doesnt know I am going too far, why cant there be a rope not to go past? I noticed I was way too far and the current almost pulled my dad and I under because it was getting deep and luckily I had a surf board that kept us from sinking! Then we walked diagnal and got back to shore again so that was the way to do it. So my question is, how likely is it to survive a current in the ocean and the river and swim all the away across both?
It;s important to stay as calm as possible and think smart. Try to float on your back and move diagonally across the direction of the current - not against it. This way the current will push you in the direction you need to go in to escape from it. The same principal applies to both the ocean and a river. By remaining calm and conserving your energy you may well survive.
